Introduction to Theater:
Students will explore the basics of theater. They will learn an acting warm-up, read plays, try-improv, analyze text, learn about the history of theater, and learn to work together on plays as an ensemble. Theatre is a collaborative art and requires that students work together and support each other. Theatre students will be working in groups and in pairs for many assignments so getting along with everyone is very important. Students will gain confidence, sharpen their analytical skills, improve their reading, learn to meet deadlines and become empathetic collaborators.

Advanced Theater:
Advanced theater will pick up where Intro to Theater left off. Students will explore more advanced material such as Shakespeare and other classical playwrights. In this class, students will take their learning outside of the classroom competing in the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California (DTASC) competition. As well as sharing their scenes with the Olive Vista community. Students will focus on creating their own stories and scenes giving them the chance to create and express what they feel is important to them and their community.

Performing Arts Club:
Offers students after-school performing arts activities. Students can rehearse scenes, practice an instrument, work on their singing, or learn hands-on activities connected to technical theater such as stage management, lighting, and sound.
