Celebrating Halloween, the OV Way
Students and staff are invited to dress according to the guidelines below:
Be Safe
Students must keep their face visible at all times. No masks, hoods, full-face makeup or excessive makeup/gore.
Weapons or replica weapons may never be brought to school.
Costumes may not be such that they restrict the movement of a student, obscure the view of others, or cause a danger to themselves or others.
Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. No high heels or open toed shoes.
Be Responsible
Costumes may not be revealing or sexually explicit in any way. No bathing suits, short skirts/shorts, revealing sleepwear, etc.
Costumes must not interfere with the instructional program or other student’s right to learn.
Costumes must be “appropriate” for students at the middle school level.
Keep excessive amounts of Halloween candy at home.
Be Respectful
Costumes should be fun but may not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, handicapping condition, gender, or individual student/staff member.
Students should respect themselves and the rights of others to safely enjoy the Halloween celebration, noontime activity, and related school-sponsored festivities.
Respect the class environment and remember that while we want to have fun, we are here to learn.
