Youth Services

The Los Angeles Unified School District Youth Services After-school Playground Program provides supervised, recreational, and educational activities in a safe, approved environment for children.

The middle school playground program is specially designed to serve students in grades 6-8. This is not a child-care program. It is a "permissive" recreation program where participants arrive and leave at their own discretion and of their own volition.

The day-to-day Youth Services After-school Playground Program is provided at no charge to participants.

 

The Youth Services Program is primarily intended to meet the recreational needs of the middle school students who can function independently.

All students are welcome. However, participation in the Youth Services Program is a privilege. Students must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the rules and regulations of the school and playground.

Youth Services playgrounds are open following the end of the school day (after the last class dismissal). To better meet the recreational needs of children as well as the needs of working parents, selected schools operate extended program hours. The extended hours portion of the program is partially funded by the City of Los Angeles. Check with your Playground Supervisor for the hours of operation at your school.

Professional Development - Tuesday or Shorten Days

2:15 pm - 6:00 pm

 

Youth Services playgrounds provide a safe, supervised, recreational environment. Activities may include board games, various sports, drill team, dance, fun games, arts and crafts, etc.
